Antioch Olympics
With more than 100 in attendance again, we knew the event
was going to be a little out of control but after the opening ceremonies we
decided to just go with it. The Russian and French Judges where about ready to
kill each other, Ben Hardin did a great job lighting the torch for the opening
ceremonies but then decided he wanted to "steal the show" and got the
best round of applause for the evening and the food was gone faster than Usain Bolt.
All the teams got into the activity and started off with diving in and the
scores where really looking good until the Potentate decided to bribe the
Judges and Dr. Payne had to do a certain examination from the backside (if you
get what I mean). Gary Shiflet was seen wearing a speedo and we almost lost the
crowd, but Linda Heizer was able to reel the crowd back in as she indicated she
was looking forward to the cycle racing as it reminded her of when she was 5
and first had the pleasure of riding something she would never forget (her new
bike of course is what I meant…where was your mind going????). The Gymnastic
activity saw many new and unique routines turned in on the balance beam. There were
some amazing shut put distances and the teams competing in the table tennis
really got into the event and we saw the best scores for the evening as it
appeared we had several very experienced players participating. The final
results indicated the Bobbies and Hillbilly's tied for the Bronze, Motor Corp
and 4 Wheelers tied for the Silver and the Funsters and Indy Cars tied for the
gold (but unformatuately afterwards they traded their gold medals to pay off their
bar tabs)!
